A: It’s in Low Etherley, County Durham—about 10 minutes from Bishop Auckland and within a 30–60 minute drive of the North Pennines, Durham City, Beamish Museum, Barnard Castle, and more.

A: Enjoy countryside walks, cycling, dark-sky / stargazing spots (Bollihope, Hamsterley Forest), plus cultural attractions like Kynren, Raby Castle, Auckland Castle, and Escomb Saxon Church. The Auckland Project, Raby Castle, High Force Waterfall, Barnard Castle and the Durham Dales. to name just a few.Q: Do I need a car to visit?

Gardenside Lodge accommodates up to 4 guests in two bedrooms—ideal for couples, small families (ages 3+), or friends.🔧What facilities are included?

Yes – there is continuous hot water.Are towels and bed linen provided?
Yes, high-quality towels and bed linen are provided for all guests.Can we get groceries delivered?
Yes – most major supermarkets deliver to the lodge, and there are excellent local farm shops and markets nearby.Does the lodge have a fireplace or log burner?
No, there is no log-burning stove. Heating is provided by efficient electric wall heaters.There is an outside fireplace situated in the folly.
Is the lodge suitable for children?
Children aged 3 and over are welcome. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate children under 3 as we don’t have space for a cot, high chair, or other baby equipment.Can we get groceries delivered?
Yes – most major supermarkets deliver to the lodge, and there are excellent local farm shops and markets nearby.Is parking available?
Yes – free private parking is available for up to 2 vehicles, directly outside the lodge.🚪 Arrival & Departure

Is the lodge suitable for guests with limited mobility?
Gardenside Lodge is single-storey and includes:A walk-in shower
Mostly paved and grassed paths around the garden
Level access at the rear of the property
Three steps at the front entrance
Is the lodge suitable for wheelchair users?
Unfortunately, Gardenside Lodge is not suitable for wheelchair users due to doorway widths and internal layout.Do you welcome assistance dogs?
Yes, registered assistance dogs are very welcome. Extra cleaning can be arranged at no charge if needed.📅 Booking & Availability

Yes, we have a 2-night minimum stay. Longer stays may apply during peak times or holiday periods.
Is the lodge dog-friendly?
Yes, up to 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome. The garden is fully enclosed and there are many great walking routes nearby.
